How Much Does an Awning Cost in Ireland? What Sets the Price
If you are pricing up a retractable awning for your home, the first question is usually simple: how much does an awning cost in Ireland? The honest answer is that it depends on the size, the model and the extras you choose. This guide explains what sets the price, what a GardenZone quote includes and how to get a fixed price for your own patio.
What affects the price of an awning?
Several things decide what you will pay. The main ones are:
Width: the biggest factor. Our awnings go up to 7 m wide per unit, and wider frontages can be covered with two awnings side by side.
Projection: how far the awning comes out from the wall, up to about 3.6 m. A deeper projection needs stronger arms.
Model: a slim, great-value awning costs less than one with integrated LED lighting.
Motor and remote: included in our prices as standard.
Sensors: a wind sensor or sun sensor adds to the cost, but most Irish customers choose at least a wind sensor.
Lighting and heating: LED lights in the arms and infrared heaters are optional extras.
Fabric and frame colour: choose from more than 150 fabrics and frames in white, anthracite or other RAL colours.
Wall type and brackets: the fixing has to suit your wall, whether it is brick, rendered block or timber frame.
Access and installation: fitting is included in our quotes and usually takes a day.
Palladio or Corsica: which model fits your budget?
We fit two main models, both made to measure and both motorised with a remote.
Palladio
The Palladio awning is our best-value retractable awning. It is slim, strong and protects the fabric with a top cover when it is closed. It is the most popular choice for Irish patios and decks.
Corsica
The Corsica awning adds integrated LED lighting and a cleaner, more modern finish. It costs a little more, but the patio stays usable well into the evening.
For both models the price rises with width and projection, so a small awning over patio doors costs much less than a 7 m awning over a large terrace.
What is included in a GardenZone quote?
Our quotes are for the complete job, not just the product. Every quote includes:
The made-to-measure awning in your chosen fabric and frame colour
Supply and delivery
Installation by our own installation team
The motor and remote control
There is no separate charge for the motor and there are no hidden extras after the survey.
Optional extras
You can add extras to suit how you use the space:
Wind sensor: retracts the awning automatically in gusts
Sun sensor: helps the awning respond to strong sunshine
LED lighting in the arms: soft light for evenings outside
Infrared heater: keeps the patio comfortable on cooler nights
How to keep the cost down
Choose the width you really need rather than the full length of the house.
Pick the Palladio if you do not need built-in lighting.
Add a wind sensor rather than a full set of extras; it protects your investment.
Book the survey early in the year, before the busy summer season.
Warranty and finance
Our awnings come with 5 years warranty on the structure and fabric and 2 years on the electrics. If you would rather spread the cost, finance is available through Humm.
Commercial awnings
Pubs, cafés and shops often need wider cover or a logo on the fabric. Pricing for these depends on the project, so see our commercial awnings page for more information.
Is an awning the right choice?
A retractable awning is usually the most affordable way to add shade to a patio. It folds away when you do not need it and gives cover from sun and light rain. If you want a roof that stays useful in heavier rain, a pergola may suit you better, but it will cost more.
