Commercial Pergolas for Hotels, Pubs & Restaurants in Ireland
An outdoor area that can only be used on dry days is lost revenue. In Ireland that is most of the year. A commercial pergola turns a hotel terrace, a beer garden or a restaurant courtyard into covered, usable floor space, in rain, wind and sun. This guide explains the systems we install for hospitality businesses, fit-out companies and main contractors, and what to plan before you ask for a quote.
Why hospitality businesses are covering their outdoor space
More covers on more days: guests stay outside when it rains instead of leaving.
A better smoking and beer garden area that meets the rules for covered outdoor spaces.
Space for events, weddings and private dining without building an extension.
Integrated LED lighting and heaters, so the area works in the evening and in winter.
Which pergola system suits a commercial site?
Bioclimatic pergola (louvred aluminium roof)
A bioclimatic pergola has motorised aluminium louvres that rotate to let in light and air, or close tight in rain. Water runs into gutters hidden in the frame and down through the posts. It is the strongest option we fit and the most popular choice for hotels and restaurants, because it is fully rigid, takes heavy wind and snow loads, and can be closed in with sliding glass or zip screens.

Retractable roof pergola
A retractable pergola has a waterproof fabric roof that slides open in good weather and closes in seconds. It suits beer gardens and long terraces where a fully open sky matters in summer.
Modular systems for large areas
Both systems are modular. Single modules are joined side by side, so a terrace of 20 or 30 metres can be covered with one continuous roof, with each section operated separately. This is how we approach hotel terraces, pub gardens and multi-unit projects.
Working with contractors, architects and fit-out companies
A large part of our commercial work comes through main contractors and interior fit-out companies who need a reliable outdoor-cover package inside a bigger project. We provide:
Site survey and measured layout drawings for the design team.
Technical data, wind and snow load information and product certificates.
A clear itemised quotation per module, so the cost can be split between phases.
Our own installation crew, working to the main contractor's programme and site rules.
Aftercare and servicing once the space is open to the public.
What to plan before you ask for a quote
The size of the area and how it is used (dining, standing, smoking, events).
Whether the pergola will be wall-mounted or freestanding, and what it is fixed to.
Side enclosures: sliding glass, zip screens or open sides.
Lighting, heating and power requirements.
Planning permission. Read our guide on planning permission for pergolas in Ireland.
Awnings, parasols and barriers for the rest of the site
Many venues combine a pergola with commercial awnings over windows and entrances, large commercial parasols for open terraces and café barriers to mark out the seating area. See all our commercial projects.

Nationwide installation
We survey, supply and install across Ireland, including Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Kerry and the midlands, for single venues and for groups with several sites.
